Course Summary

Organ transplantation rates have increased in the past several decades and yet nursing education with respect to the process of organ donation and post-transplant care has been inconsistent. Certain state jurisdictions, such as New Jersey, are now requiring nurses to receive continuing education on organ donation and transplantation to renew their license to practice. The goal of mandatory education is to increase nursing knowledge and participation in organ donation and transplantation programs, and to advance the role of nurses in this continuously growing area of health care.
